For TRIO pre-college professionals, the question isn’t whether A.I. will affect our work, but how we can use it responsibly, ethically, and in ways that strengthen—rather than replace—the human connection our students depend on. The A.I. Foundations for Academic Advising eTutorial offers exactly that foundation. For TRIO programs serving first-generation and low-income students, it is especially important that new technologies are used thoughtfully, transparently, and with equity at the center. This course helps ensure AI becomes a supportive tool—not a barrier—in your work. The tutorial costs $450 for NACADA and COE members and $650 for non-members. Contact Angelica Vialpando for a special members-only discount to use at checkout!
Through this eTutorial, you will:
- Understand the differences between generative A.I. tools, large language models, automations, and enterprise solutions
- Learn ethical frameworks—including the Human-In, Human-Out approach—to ensure responsible A.I. use
- Identify ways A.I. can reduce administrative burden while preserving trust and student relationships
- Gain confidence using A.I. appropriately in advising and program support contexts
