The Council for Opportunity in Education Applauds 21 States and the District of Columbia for Defending TRIO Students in Federal Case Against the U.S. Department of Education
The Council for Opportunity in Education (COE) today applauded 21 states—led by Nevada and Massachusetts—for filing an amicus brief supporting COE’s lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Education. The brief argues that the abrupt loss of more than 100 TRIO programs threatens to undermine college access for low-income and first-generation students, while weakening state economies that rely on an educated workforce.
