40 Years of Good Trouble: Equity, Access & Success

It’s Showtime! Here's How to Join the Online Platform — Even if You're Joining Us In — Person in Atlanta!

For online and in-person participants, COE's virtual Annual Conference is hosted on the virtual conference platform OpenWater. Login using your COE credentials here. All participants can live stream the entire conference or specific sessions via the OpenWater video platform, in virtual meeting rooms powered by Zoom. You must be registered for the 2021 COE annual conference to participate. You will be able to log-in using single sign-on credential to the conference hub. To make the most of your time 'on-site,' take an hour or two before the conference begins to play around in the event hub. Your experience is in your control. 1) Click on the Login button on the top menu to be directed to the login page. 2. Enter the email associated with your registration. Get full instructions here.

At this year’s conference, we celebrate the Council’s 40th year by honoring 40 Years of Good Trouble: Equity, Access, and Success. Whether you are joining us in person or virtually from your home office or workplace, the conference committee and COE staff have worked hard to ensure that this is an outstanding professional development opportunity for you. See what’s on the agenda at the link below.

Maintaining Healthy Environments and Operations at COE’s 40th Annual Conference

Wearing masks is important to prevent the asymptomatic spread of the virus that causes COVID-19. Choosing not to wear a mask puts the health of others and your own health at risk. Masks will be always required for all conference participants and exhibitors when they are not eating or drinking, regardless of vaccination status. Any person who refuses to comply with COE's mask mandate will be removed from the conference venue and will not be issued a refund.

Volunteer and Help Make Annual Conference a Success!

This year, COE will need about 200 volunteers. COE hopes at least 20 volunteers from each of the 10 regions will come forward. Interested volunteers, select your preference from the available volunteer tasks and timeslots here. COE will confirm your specific duties, times, and contact person as the conference approaches. All volunteers must be registered to participate in the conference in person. Regional presidents, please share this call for volunteers with your constituents. Fun Run or Walk or Sweating to the Oldies: Three Great Ways to Get Your Morning Started!
Tuesday, September 14
7:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. (ET)

Our Annual Conference fun run is a friendly race that involves fitness running or walking with participants taking part for their own enjoyment rather than competition. This year, participants can choose either of the following:

  • 5k Fun Run (loop around nearby Centennial Olympic Park)
  • 2 Mile Walk (head to the park and back)
  • Sweating to the Oldies (in the hotel)

  • All participants will receive a special edition COE Fun Run 2021 hat — whether you run, walk, or just register and stay in bed. Our virtual participants can also send a selfie of themselves working out from wherever they are in the country using #COEAC2021.

    Public Service Project

Let’s Help Long Middle School Build Its STEM Curriculum! — This year for its public service project, the Council supports Crawford Long Middle School. Located in SW Atlanta, the middle school serves over 700 students in grades six through eight. Here’s how you can help make a difference in their lives.

    Recommit to COE

At COE, we take the 40th Anniversary as an opportunity to say thank you for your commitment to our mission. To commemorate the 40th Anniversary would you consider making a special contribution of $40 to COE? Your financial support this year and over the years guarantees that the Council will have the resources and flexibility to improve educational opportunities and outcomes for our most underserved students. With your support, surely, we will be ready for whatever the next forty years bring.

Let Social Media Know You’re Going!

Let peers know you're going with this profile picture frame. Although the methods may be a little different, you can reconnect during virtual and in-person conferences. Download your official annual conference profile picture at the link below, then network with more than 2,000 college access professionals from hundreds of institutions nationwide and share your big ideas during educational sessions, ED Talks, and other opportunities on social media using the official hashtag #COEAC2021.
