Supporting the Unique Needs of Youth In/From Foster Care

May 12, 2025

Virtual

1:00 to 2:15 p.m. ET

Many students in foster care experience challenges that impact their academic achievement and K-12 school success. In this session, you will hear from experts with lived experiences about what supports were helpful in their school experiences and what gaps or lack of supports were encountered.  The session also aids in understanding the impacts of trauma and why developing relationships with adults can be difficult.  Attend to learn about federal and local state policies for supporting the educational success of children and youth in foster care at the K-12 level and the values and mission of Casey Family Programs’ goals around permanency, safety and well-being of students in foster care.
