The Amazon Original film “A Million Miles Away” is an inspiring true story based on the life of TRIO Upward Bound and TRIO Student Support Services alumnus, 2001 National TRIO Achiever Award recipient, and author José Hernández, the first migrant farmworker to become an American astronaut. The movie follows his determined journey from a young boy with dreams of space travel to achieving his goal through unwavering dedication, learning new skills, and never giving up in the face of rejection. Hernandez’s incredible story of perseverance and reaching his maximum potential serves as a powerful message of hope and self-belief, making this film an inspirational classic that encourages current TRIO participants and TRIO alums to follow their dreams.

Please ensure you have an Amazon Prime account ready for the movie screening. José Hernández kicks off the watch party with remarks via an interactive Zoom meeting at 6:30 p.m. Pacific Time.
